focusWell, that was interesting! I went to crossfit, and wowzzzaaaa…….I was WAY out of my comfort zone, trust me.

Now, I consider myself reasonably fit, but I’m just comfortable in what I have been doing for YEARS! This, is fantastic…..taking me to levels that I just do not go to, or push myself to.

The first thing we did was burpees, for a warm up…100 of them!!!!!!!!

I gasped my way through them, help back the urge to vomit, and just kept ticking them off, and I got through them. ( yes, me too, I wanted to vomit)

I know how everyone of my clients feel when I give them exercises like burpees. I mean they really just suck. They test your spirit, your determination, your fitness, everything! It’s certainly not great at the time but OMG how good does it feel when you have nailed them. It doesn’t matter how long it takes.

Then we then proceeded to do the “WOD” short for workout of the day.

These “WOD’S” are designed to challenge your fitness, strength and endurance, and are monitored and under strict control of the qualified instructors. If you are unable to do any exercise for whatever reason, they will give you an option.

Technique and control of the exercise is very important. They change every day.

Once the guidelines have been explained, off you go, completing the WOD in the best time possible. You can go as slow or as fast as you can. Completing these workouts gives you such a sense of achievement, that you have done something you normally would never do. What a fabulous, exciting hobby I have found. This is great. I am so excited ( and scared ) every time I arrive at the box ( Crossfit gym), to see what’s on the agenda for the day.

So guys, I am in exactly the same boat as you. I need to try different things, activities that will challenge me, excite me, push me to my absolute limit. And the point I want to make here, is that you need to challenge yourself to get better, fitter, stronger, healthier, stronger in your mind. Once you find all these things, and improve on them, you will be unstoppable. I’m not saying you have to go and try crossfit ( although you may want to), or that you have to run 5 km, or even join a gym. It’s all relative. Think “what challenges me”…. And go and do that.

If you have never tried a group fitness class……go and do it!! If you have never tried boxing, do it! If you have never tried jogging, do it. Sign up for a 5km run, surfing lessons, crossfit, or even take the plunge and take on a personal trainer, and do a challenge. It’s all there for you. We are so fortunate to have so much available to us.

Go on, stand up, and leap out of that comfort zone. This is where you will truly get results, and a new respect for yourself and your body.

I will keep you posted on my antics, and my new hobby. For now,

Chow………
